new gpl in the works
Written by jlgaddis on June 18, 2005 – 9:24 am -As an associate member of the Free Software Foundation, I occasionally receive a newsletter in the mail. This morning I received the latest one and read the enclosed letter, which opens with “We are approaching an important moment for the free software movement, with a timetable for the release of a draft GPL3 now being considered.” Rather than reproducing the entire article here, I managed to find it on the FSF’s web site. You can read the entire bulletin here: http://www.fsf.org/news/gpl3.html.
There’s no specific timeline mentioned (unless I missed it), but it looks like a new version of the GPL is definitely in the works.
