dsl ordered

Okay, so the more I sat and thought about it (see last post), the more I wanted DSL… now.

I, once again, looked at the web pages of HoosierNet, Kiva Networking, and SBC, and finally ordered DSL from SBC.

They can give me a price of $14.95/mo. for the basic service (up to 1.5Mbps down, up to 384kbps up), which is way lower than anyone else here (everybody else has to “piggyback” on top of SBC’s phone service, so of course it costs more). I finally decided I didn’t need my own netblock, static IP address, etc. and can get by with this service. I’ve already moved my web site and e-mail service to a “real” host, so I don’t really need to run servers anymore (I will, of course, leave SSH up and running and accessible from work, of course).

Scheduled “go live” date is July 12th, just over a week away. We’ll see how that goes.
