sbc dsl

I’m still waiting on SBC to upgrade my DSL line to the business class account I mentioned previously. I ordered it on 9/13 and they gave me a date of 9/20 to have it completed, but they usually are faster than that. I guess since they actually have to do some work (allocating a netblock to me, etc.) that it might take that long. They shipped out a new router to me and I got it Thursday (I think). I thought I was getting a Netopia Caymen router, but what I actually got was the 2wire 1701HG, which will work too. It’s got 802.11b/g built-in, so it’ll replace the Linksys WRT54GS that I was using — the WRT54GS runs Linux, by the way.

I’m also waiting to have another phone line turned on for the fax. Apparently when you place an order on the web, they call to confirm and if they can’t verify it, they throw the order out. Or so the customer service person told me Saturday when I called. Therefore, I had to place another order with her, verbally, to have a fax line set up. That one is supposed to be done by tomorrow.
