In a post yesterday to the MySQL Announcements list, Kaj Arno announced that the first Release Candidate of MySQL 5.0 was available. Your can download a copy at http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.0.html.

As someone who’s been using the MySQL open-source database server software for many years, this is a big announcement. Some of the major complaints about MySQL over the years have been the lack of support for transactions, views, stored procedures, stored functions, and triggers. MySQL 5.0 will have support for ALL OF THESE!
