my certification roadmap

So I just completed the SANS course for the GIAC Certified Windows Security Administrator course, and it got me to thinking about certs again.

I can take the great majority of the major I.T. certs at my workplace, which is really convenient, and the price isn’t bad either. I’m thinking I’ll do the GCWN test first, then start studying up for the Microsoft certifications. The Linux side of me really hates to do that, but the certs can’t really hurt you, in my opinion. All they’re going to do is make me that much more marketable and give me more knowledge to implement more solutions (please note that I’m not someone who simply memorizes the material to pass the test and couldn’t install a copy of Microsoft Windows Server if I had to — I manage Windows systems by day). Perhaps the MCSA first, then the MCSE, then jump deeper into the InfoSec world, which is where my true interests lie…
