laptop upgrade: fc5 to fc6
Written by jlgaddis on November 6, 2006 – 2:14 am -As you’ve probably heard, Red Hat recently released Fedora Core 6. I set up an “at” job to download the ISOs for me from the Indiana University mirror site while the building was closed and burnt them the new day. A few days later, I finally got around to actually doing the upgrade and, amazingly enough, it completed without any issues (well, except for that Fedora Core 6 and VMware Workstation issue).
That was probably eight or ten days ago, and tonight I ran a “yum update” and already there were 381 packages updated. I’m not sure why that is, but the laptop is now up-to-date again.
I have a workstation in my office running Fedora Core 5 as well, but I haven’t gotten around to updating it just yet. Soon, very soon…
