ge money loses backup tape
yahoo news is reporting that ge money can’t find a backup tape containing personal information on 650,000 credit card holders, including ssn’s of 150,000.
apparently a backup tape was discovered missing about three months ago, though this is the first i’ve heard of this incident. that’s kinda surprising since i happen to have a credit card for jc penney. it seems that at least one of my other cards is issued by ge money, but i can’t remember off the top of my head who it is (american eagle or abercrombie & fitch, perhaps?).
guess i’ll wait and see if i get one of those letters.
