HP Networking Tech Day

Thursday afternoon, I received an invitation to the HP Networking Tech Day, “a social media community event designed specifically for industry bloggers like you.”

The event will be held in Roseville, California, the home of HP ProCurve Networking’s global headquarters, on August 23rd and 24th.

According to the invitation, some of the topics to be discussed include:

  • HP Networking A, E, V, & S Series product teardowns and deep dives,
  • a tour of the Shake n Bake networking product lab
  • Next Gen Connectivity: Virtual Connect and FCoE, and
  • Intelligent Management Center (IMC) demos

If you’ve read my posts here or followed me on Twitter for any length of time, you’re likely aware that I am not exactly a huge fan of the HP ProCurve devices, mostly due to bad experiences (and/or dumb issues) I’ve had with them. This event should be a good opportunity to be able to discuss some of these things with HP and gets answers to some of my questions (including “when will IPv6 routing be available on the 3500/5400/8200 series?”, since I can’t seem to get an answer to that one).

One person mentioned that perhaps this was a trick to get me to Roseville so that some of the HP engineers could beat me up. If I’m not heard from after August 24th, you know why. =)

On a related note, I’ll be arriving in Sacramento early Sunday, August 22nd, and may have some time to kill. I’m always up for grabbing a beer if anyone is interested.
