Later this week, a promiscuous group of networking professionals will converge (alright, I’ll quit with the puns now) on San Jose, California, for Gestalt IT’s special Networking Field Day event.

Fearless leader Stephen Foskett and 12 networking geeks will spend Thursday and Friday meeting with representatives from Arista Networks, Cradlepoint Technology, Force 10 Networks, Hewlett-Packard, Juniper Networks, SolarWinds, and Xsigo Systems.

The delegates who have been invited to attend are well-known folks in the IT world: Ethan Banks, Brandon Carroll, Greg Ferro, Jeremy Filliben, Josh Horton, Jennifer Huber, Ivan Pepelnjak, Bob Plankers, Steven Rossen, Terry Slattery, and Jeremy Stretch (links to blogs/Twitter profiles). I am honored to have the opportunity to attend with them.

We’ll be tweeting, blogging, and <INSERT BUZZWORD HERE> all throughout the event. You can keep up with all the action by following the #TechFieldDay hashtag on Twitter.

I’ll be arriving early Tuesday, spending the night in San Francisco, then making my way down to San Jose on Wednesday. At least a few of us (Ethan, Brandon, Greg and myself — any others?) are planning on getting together at the Doubletree Hotel (from roughly 1500-1700 PDT) to socialize and connect (last pun, I promise) before the event kicks off. If you’re in the area, feel free to stop in and say hey!

UPDATE: The first Net Field Day event was a huge success. Check out my Net Field Day (Day 1) and Net Field Day (Day 2) write-ups about the events.

UPDATE: The first Net Field Day was so awesome that we’re doing it again. Net Field Day 2 will take place in late October 2011 in Silicon Valley.
