I’m Going to Disney World!

As mentioned a few days ago, I recently submitted a letter of resignation to my employer. Later that afternoon, I posted a message on Facebook letting my friends and family know as well. One of my friends wrote, “Now what are you going to do?” Being funny, I responded “I’m going to Disney World!” (those of you not familiar with the commercials should read this).

Last week, I received an invitation to attend the first annual Dell Storage Forum being held next month, which I happily accepted:

“A combination of Compellent’s C-Drive and EqualLogic’s User Conference, this new event will bring together influencers and visionaries in the storage community to discuss how data will drive success in the virtual era.”

Little did I know when I made my remark that I really would be going to Disney World! The host venue for conference is the Hilton in the Walt Disney World Resort.

As many of you already know, I’m way more of a networking guy than a storage guy, but since the two have been converging in recent years, I’m happy to attend, increase my knowledge, and play around in the hands-on labs. I’ll be attending sessions on (at least) the 6th, 7th, and 8th of June. My hope is that by the time the conference ends I’ll have a good understanding of Dell’s offering in the Storage realm.

Also, Infosmack Live! will be recording their podcast on Tuesday, the 7th, from the Raglan Road Irish Pub in conjunction with the Dell Storage Forum. Co-hosts Greg Knieriemen and Christina Weil will be on-site hosting the podcast.

In addition, there will be a “blogger event” on the evening of Monday, June 6th. I’m looking forward to meeting up with other bloggers at that event and, as always, I’m happy to meet up with anyone for a beer.

As with some other events I’ve attended in the past, this one is being paid for by the vendor. As should be obvious by now, that in no way affects what I say or think about them or their products. See my “Disclosures” page for more info.
