indianapolis to make bid for 2012 super bowl

the associated press tells us:

indianapolis — a delegation from indianapolis will travel to arizona this week for the super bowl, with an eye toward the city making a bid for the 2012 game.

indianapolis lost out to dallas last year in a close vote among nfl owners for the 2011 super bowl.

mayor greg ballard said tuesday he was inclined to make a new bid but wanted to review corporate support and the nfl’s requirements before making a final decision.

ballard and other bid leaders say they would emphasis the city’s experience hosting large events such as the indianapolis 500 and the ncaa final four, and the availability of the retractable-roof lucas oil stadium.

the city’s review is expected to be finished in a month.

as a hoosier, this is awesome. i would definitely spend the money to go and be a part of this.

nfl conference championship predictions

well, i knew it wouldn’t happen so it wasn’t surprising, but it would’ve been cool.

regardless, i thought i’d post my predictions for the nfl conference championship games today.

the first game is the san diego chargers versus the new england patriots. the patriots are gonna win this, though i don’t think it’ll be by much.

game two will be the new york giants taking on the green bay packers. the packers are gonna take this one.

if i’m right about those two games, then we’ll see the patriots and the packers in the super bowl. i’d like to see the packers — or anyone, for that matter — stomp the shit out of ‘em but, unfortunately, i don’t think it’ll happen.

a big nfl what if

now this would be cool…yesterday, the new england patriots beat the jacksonville jaguars and the green bay packers beat the seattle seahawks in a blizzard.

today, the indianapolis colts host the san diego chargers and right after that the new york giants take on the dallas cowboys.

alright, the “what if?” that will never happen…if the colts were to beat the chargers today and the patriots next sunday and if the giants were to beat the cowboys today and the packers next sunday, then we’d be watching brother vs. brother — peyton manning vs. eli manning, quarterback vs. quarterback — in the super bowl.

i know it’ll never happen, but wouldn’t that be fuckin’ cool?
